Gita with Rishi as hero

Three NRI doctors are producing a film Gita under the direction of Suresh Kumar on the banner of Thaan Fusion with Rishi (A film by Aravind-fame) and a Mumbai girl Shriya in the lead. This film has a lady-oriented subject and a fight against the problems faced by the women. The shooting of the film is presently in progress at a private house in Film Nagar of Hyderabad.

'Chandamamatho Oka Maata Cheppaali' with Tarun as hero

Producer Medikonda Muralikrishna is planning a film with Tarun under the direction of Nagesh Naradasi on the banner of Venkata Ramana Productions. The film is titled Chandamamatho Oka Maata Cheppaali. Medikonda Muralikrishna had earlier produced Narasimha Naidu starring Balakrishn. Nagesh Naradasi previously directed the movie Sri Satyanarayana Swamy with Suman in the lead. Presently story discussions are in progress.

Nuvvu Premiste Chaalu completes censor

Censor work of the film Nuvvu Premisthe Chaalu was completed recently and the film is ready to be released. Kunal of Premikula Roju-fame is the hero and Monal is the heroine of this film. This film is the Telugu version of the Tamil musical hit film Parvai Ondru Podu. The film is now being dubbed into Telugu by Gunji Manohar on the banner of Sri Lalitha Aditya Films.

BBVS Manidev Reddy is presenting the film. It is a triangle love story between Kunal, Karan and Monal. The audio of the film was released into the market recently and is getting a good response.
Dialogues are written by Ravishankar, lyrics are by Bhuvana Chandra while music is by Bharani. Muralikrishna directed the film.

'Ramudu' shooting in progress at Samshabad

The shooting of the film Ramudu (Manchi Baludu) directed by Praneet and produced by Rangababu with Rangababu and Preeti Varma in the female lead is progressing well at Siddheswara Temple in Samshabad. The shooting would continue there for about a week. The movie based on a real life incident during the Chalukya dynasty. Producer and hero Rangababu says, 'Certain modifications were made to the story to suit the present generation'. One song for the film was shot at Kulu Manali recently. Shooting of three songs and 60 percent talkie part has been completed. Ranjit is the music director of the film.

Takkari shooting begins

Shooting of the film Takkari directed by Amma Rajasekhar and produced by Paruchuri Sivaram Prasad on the banner of United Movies with Nithin and Suhani Kalitha in the lead was launched at a function in Rock Castle Hotel in Hyderabad on June 28. The film would be completed in a single schedule starting from June 28. Chakri is scoring music for the film. The film will have love as its backdrop. How a boy won the heart of a girl whom he loved is the subject of the film. Marudhuri Raja is scripting dialogues for the film. Santosh is the cinematographer, editing is by Gauthamraju and art is by Prakash. The film would be released in October.

P. Vasu to direct Kamal's next film

It is reliably learnt that P. Vasu who has directed Chandramukhi with Super Star Rajani Kanth is likely to direct Kamal Hassan for his next film to be produced by Satya Jyothi Films. Kamal Hassan is presently busy with the shooting of Dasavataram directed by K.S. Ravikumar and produced by Oscar Ravichandran. Kamal Hassan is portraying 10 roles in this movie. The shooting of the film is almost completed.

Don shooting progress

Shooting of the movie Don directed by Lawrence and produced by M.L. Kumar Choudary starring Nagarjuna and Anushka has resumed its new schedule in Hyderabad. Currently shooting of a song on Nagarjuna and Anushka is going on at a specially erected set at Annapoorna Studios in Hyderabad. The film will continue this schedule till the finishing of the entire film. Don is expected to be released in September. This is the second movie in the combination of Nagarjuna and Lawrence after Mass, which was a huge hit. Nagarjuna also appeared in a guest role in the movie Style directed and acted by Lawrence.

Dubai Seenu team at Dallas, TX screening

Dubai Seenu team is now in USA. Director Sreenu Vaitla and comedian Sunil are coming to Dallas to join with all the Telugu people there for watching the screening of the film at Dallas. As you know Dubai Seenu directed by Srinu Vaitla under the banner of Universal Media starring Raviteja and Nayanthara was released recently and is running successfully. Manisharma scored the music for the film. This is the second movie in the combination of Raviteja and Srinu Vaitla after Venki.

Shankar Dada Zindabad audio release on July 5

Audio of the movie Shankar Dada Zindabad directed by Prabhudeva and produced on the banner of Gemini Film Circuits with Mega Star Chiranjeevi and Karishma Kotak in the lead will be launched into the market through Aditya Music on July 5, 2007. This film is the sequel of Shankar Dada MBBS and the Telugu version of Lage Raho Munnabhai. Srikanth is appearing in the role of Arshad Warsi in the original. Harish directs for Vaishno Academy?

According to some sources it is beleived that director Harish who has previously directed Shock starring Raviteja and Jyothika has got another chance. He is to direct for Puri Jagannadh’s Vaishno Academy. He is now busy preparing the script for the production house. Puri Jagannadh’s brother Sai is likely to be the hero of this film.

Charmi is the Bapu Bomma

It is now official that Charmme was chosen for the role of leading actress in director Bapu’s next film. Charmi was Bapu’s first choice, later Suhani was considered and she also participated in a photo shoot. Again the makers have felt that Suhani is too young to play the role and again choose Charmi for the film. Anil Kumar is the producer of this film. He previously produced Radhagopalam directed by Bapu starring Srikanth and Sneha. The film will begin its shoot from July 10, 2007.

Buddha in post-production works

Post-production works are in progress for Buddha directed by Allani Sridhar and produced by K. Rajasekhar on the banner of Dharmapatha Creations. Sunil Sharma is playing the role of Buddha, Suman as Bimbisara, Puneet Issar as Anguli Mala, Surendra Paul as Suddhodhana, the father of Buddha, Kausha is playing Yashodhara, wife of Buddha and Parvati Melton as Amrapali. The conversion of Siddhartha into Buddha was picturised extraordinarily with the help of wonderful graphics. E-effects which provided graphics for Krishh is working for the movie which is being picturised simultaneously in Telugu, English and Hindi. The film was shot in Ramoji Film City, RK Studios, Annapurna, Manchirevula, Bodh Gaya (Bihar), Lumbini (Nepal) and several other places. Shashi Preetham is scoring the music and Sirivennela Sitarama Sastry scripted the songs for the Telugu version.

Shooting of the movie Yamadonga directed by S.S. Rajamouli and produced by Urmila Gunnam and Cherry on the banner of Sri Viswamitra Creations with Jr. NTR, Priyamani and Mamata Mohandas in the lead is going at brisk pace. Preeti Jhangiani, Navneet Kaur and Veda Sastry are playing the roles of Rambha, Urvasi and Menaka in this movie. Re-recording was completed for Rudramani directed by Khaleel and produced by Eedara Ranga Rao on the banner of Sai Gokul Films with Abbas, Thanu Roy and Rajiv Kanakala in the lead. When it comes to the story of the film — India is remaining backward till now because of illiteracy. Once illiteracy is eradicated, India would move on a progressive path. A literate should teach at least 10 illiterate persons, which would help the country to prosper well. This message was told in an entertaining way through Rudramani. The 'Rudra Thandavam' song written by Veturi would remain a highlight of the film. The audio was released through Surya Music is getting a positive response.

Anasuya shooting progress

The first schedule of Anasuya directed and produced by Allari Ravibabu on the banner of Flying Frogs and presented by Suresh Productions with Abbas and Bhoomika in the lead would be completed on June 27. The second schedule was planned from June 30 to July 30 in Hyderabad. Bhoomika is playing the title role in the film and she is playing the character of a TV anchor. The shooting of the film is progressing in a private house at Film Nagar in Hyderabad. Sekhar Chandra is the music director of the film.

Arti Agarwal is the heroine in Raja Sekhar movie

Aarti Agarwal is paired up with Rajasekhar in a movie titled Gorintaku to be produced by Paras Jain and N.V. Prasad and presented by R.B. Choudary on the banner of Mega Super Good films. This film is to be directed by V.R. Pratap of Nuvvu Vasthavani fame. This film is a remake of Kannada blockbuster Annatangi. Meera Jasmine plays sister to Rajasekhar in this film. The shooting of the movie will start from 5 July.

Yama Donga release in August

The release of Jr. NTR’s Yamadonga is delayed from 18 July to first week of August. The reason for the delay are due to the graphics work and the heavy rains in Andhra Pradesh. Shooting of two songs is still to be done. Audio of this movie would be released on 5 July. NTR and Mamata Mohandas rendered their voice to the remix song of Olammi Tikka Reginda from old Yamagola for this film. This is the third movie in the combination of S.S. Rajamouli and Jr. NTR after two super hit movies Student No.1 and Simhadri. M.M. Keeravani scored the music of the film and the audio of this film will be released into market through Vel Records.

Audio of the film Toss was released by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy on Monday morning at his camp office at Greenlands, Hyderabad. Later in the evening, the music albums were unveiled at Prasads Multiplex at a special function. Directors V.V. Vinayak, Neelakantha, B. Gopal, producer Lagadapti Sridhar, hero Raja and Kamna Jethmalini attended the function. Toss is produced by Dev Amar and directed by Priyadarshini Ram. Manisharma scored the music for this film. Nayanatara is pairing up with Udaysridhar in the film titled Sivasena. Allare Allari shooting was completed on June 18, 2007. A song was picturised on Venu and Parvathi Melton by choreographer Rakesh at Padmalaya studios. What’s it about!

Shivaji (Shankar prefers the spelling as Sivaji), the film, opens with thousands of crowds waiting outside a court hall. A man named Sivaji is brought to the court by CBI and Police officers. Fearing the public outrage, the police officers mask his face. Sivaji is sent to jail. In the prison, co-prisoner asks Sivaji what offence he did – murder, rape, filming pornography or running chit fund company and bankrupting it? Sivaji turns and shows his face – that is Rajnikant – and says “I tried making our country better.”

After the titles roll, it is shown that Sivaji (Rajnikant), a software analyst, returns to India from USA and wants to setup Sivaji Foundation with Rs 200 Crores. He also falls in love with traditional Telugu girl (Shriya) and wants to marry her. On the other hand, he meets another businessman Adiseshu (Suman) and seeks help from him in setting up colleges that provides free education and general hospitals. Fearing that Sivaji’s charity plan might hamper his business interests, Suman uses all the power to stop Sivaji’s plans. He conspires against him and makes him pauper. Out of jail, Sivaji hatches a plan to unearth all the black money of Suman and also from other business men and do it for good cause. The rest of the film is how Sivaji takes revenge on Adiseshu.

When two powerful film personalities – legendary star Rajnikant and maverick director Shankar team up, one expects fireworks on the screen. But Shankar this time offers nothing new and extraordinary. Their first ever combination is just an average film at the most. The much-hyped Sivaji fails to live up to the expectations. Shankar who never tasted commercial failure falters this time due to his weak script.

Shankar, the master storyteller, has chosen familiar theme to present Rajnikant in new style. But he choose to mix regular Rajni’s film formula (hero losing everything in the midway and winning back it from starting from the scratch – Narasinha, Arunachalam etc.) and his style of theme (hero fighting for a better society) to get results. Unfortunately, the mix is mismatch. He has focused more on giving Rajni a different look (rather here many weird getups) than telling a story with convincing manner.

The entire first half is some kind of joke. There is no story before the interval. Rajnikant wooing Shriya with old-fashioned way is far from entertaining. Post the interval the film picks up but it doesn’t really make us feel awestruck as we are used to Shankar’s earlier works. It is regular stuff. He has shot the film lavishly. There is grandeur but the narration leaves much desirable.

Rajnikant still possess a lot of verve. There is grace and style in his acting. He makes us sit for even in dull moments with his performance. He also looks very young thanks to his getups and lighting method. His stylized mannerisms are big draw. Rajni has used mannerism of saying – “Cool”. And has repeated some words like “Debba Adursu Kada”. His get up as NTR with gundu is really good.

Shriya has looked very glamorously in the film. In the songs, she seemed like diva. She gets meaty role and she has done it with élan. In Manish Malhotra's designed clothes Shriya sizzled. Suman who played negative role after a long time is really splendid. His body language and facial expressions are good. He walks away with more brownie points. Vivek’s comedy is just okay. Raghuvaran makes special appearance. Nayanatara appears in a song that comes first in the film but the song is not that appealing.

A R Rehman’s songs, superior camerawork by K V Anand and amazing sets created by Thota Tharani are highlights of the film. Shankar has shot three songs superbly. They are –“Vaaji ..Vaaji Shivaji..”, “Sahara Puvvai ..” and “Dhee..Dhee..”

Rehman’s music is excellent but it is camerawork that is persistently awesome. There is a lot of CG work which has been done well. Second half is good. Dialogues by Sreeramakrishna are nice. Peter Hain work’s Matrix like fights have no novelty.

What’s not!

Shivaji has weak script. Brings feeling of Déjà vu. It is too lengthy with 3 hours running time. Hero bashing up very small baddies for lengthy time is also bad. There are no heroic feats in the film actually. The message of unearthing black money and making it white is very simplistic. Many scenes defy the logic.

Bottom-line
Shivaji on the whole doesn’t meet the expectations. It can be at best an average film. Rajnikant's Charisma, Shriya's glamor, post-interval scenes, music and stylized scenes can save it.

Shooting of the film Pellikaani Prasad has almost been completed except three songs and some patchwork. The film is being produced by Rameshkumar Alapati and Soma Vijayaprakash on the banner of Godavari Films. New director Satyam Dwarapudi is the director of the film. Naresh, Sivaji and Sridevi are in the lead. The title 'Pellikaani Prasad' was suggested by noted director cum producer EVV Satyanarayana. Raghuvaran and Tulasi are playing the parents of the heroine in this movie. Sri scored music for the movie.

Dialogues are written by Ramakrishna Rao. The film is the remake of a successful Marathi film.

Story
Dubai Seenu (Raviteja) has the going to Dubai. For that he borrow money from others reaches Bombay with his friends. In Bombay, Tataji (Venumadhav) cheats him and Dubai Seenu settles in Bombay by running a Paav Baaji bandi. He falls in love with Madhumita (Nayanthara) who comes to Bombay in search of her brother. He again tries to go to Dubai with the help of his friend (JD Chakravarthy).

Instead of going to Dubai, he comes back to Hyderabad to stay with his brother-in-law (Bhanuchander) who works as a DCP. He meets Madhumita who now works in Radio Mirchi as RJ. One day mafia don Jinnah Bhai (Sushant) comes to Hyderabad and Dubai Seenu attaks Jinnah bhai and kills his brother. While Dubai Seenu has return to Hyderabad and why did he try to kill Jinnah Bhai is the remaining story.

Overall, the movie is okay. Srinu Vaitla has managed to entertain with comedy of his style throughout the movie.

Abbo... Aadavallu shooting progress

Abbo Aadavallu shooting is going at brisk progress at Talakona. This movie is produced by G. Ashok Reddy and directed by T.N. Raju on the banner of Home Entertainments. Karthik and Anil are the heroes and Saili, Vanita and Shruti are the heroines in the film. This is a total ladies oriented subject. It has different elements including action, suspense and other mass elements.

Megastar Chiranjeevi's son Ram Charan Teja starrer Chirutha shooting is progressing at a brisk pace. This film is directed by Puri Jagannath and produced by Ashwini Dutt on the banner of Vyjayanti Movies. Delhi model Neha is the heroine of the film. The unit returned to India after shooting one song and some scenes in Bangkok. Here one song and some fights were shot in Annapurna Studios. The unit is again going to Bangkok to shoot some more scenes on June 5, 2007. There shooting would continue for about 45 days. After that they will return and continue shooting for 25 days to complete the film.

Nikitha is doing another Telugu movie

Nikitha is doing a role in the film produced by Allari Ravibabu and Suresh Productions. She has made comeback with Nee Navve Chalu after seven months of gap. Bhoomika is the main heroine of this film.
