53rd National Film Awards

53rd National Film Awards were declared on August 07, 2007. Bommalata (A Bellyful of Dreams) was selected as the Best Regional Film in Telugu. The child artist who played lead role in this film Saikumar won the Best Child Artiste award. Bommalata is directed by K. Suryaprakasha Rao (son of director K. Raghavendra Rao) and produced K. Raghavendra Rao and Rana (grandson of Ramanaidu).

Bengali film Kaalpurush directed by Buddhadeb Dasgupta was selected as the Best Feature Film for 2005 while Hindi film Parineeta directed by Prodip Sarkar was selected for Indira Gandhi Award for Best First Film of a Director. The Best Actor Award went to superstar Amitabh Bachchan for Black and Best Actress award to Sarika for her performance in the film Parzania directed by Rahul Dholakia.

Rang De Basanti directed by Rakesh Omprakash Mehra was selected as the Best Popular Film while Nargis Dutt Award for the Best Feature Film on National Integration went to Malayalam film Daivanamathil directed by Jayaraj.
