Padma awards given by the Government of India have been announced for this year on January 25, 2008. Veternal playback singer P. Susheela won the prestigious Padma Bhushan award. She will be conferred Padma Bhushan by President of India on the occasion of Republic Day. P. Susheela was born in 1935 in Vijayanagaram of Andhra Pradesh. She sungs several thousands of songs in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Simhalese.
Hindi playback singer Asha Bhosle got Padma Vibhushan. Hindi actress Madhuri Dixit and actor Tom Alter won Padma Shree.
