Lisa Ray Profile

Lisa Ray was born on April 4, 1972 in Canada. She had early aspirations of a writing career, either as a journalist or novelist until she was discovered by a talent scout for a fashion magazine. She appeared in many high profile international ad campaigns, including L'Oreal, MasterCard, Sprite, Elle Magazine, De beers, Camay, Ermenegildo Zegna, and Rado. After modeling for many years, Lisa Ray made the transition into cinema.

She began her acting career with the Bollywood film Kasoor in 2001 opposite Aftab Shivdasani. She then acted in Telugu movie 'Takkari Donga' with Mahesh Babu. She subsequently starred as the female lead of Canadian director Deepa Mehta's romantic Indo-Canadian romp, Bollywood/Hollywood in 2002. In 2005, she worked again with Mehta in the latter's most recent film, Water. She is also hosting "Beauty Mantra" a television show on the Indian channel Zee TV.
